Elder people are more vulnerable to cyber crimes as they are the ones who have least experience with the modern technologies.According to a survey :-

The people with least technological experience are more vulnerable to any kind of cyberattack. The elder people who have the least knowledge face more cyber attacks and the young people having the technological experience still faces cyberattack as they are fond of using more technology

The today’s generation is more tech- savvy, also they are fond of doing everything online. Whether it is a question for interacting with people, shopping or managing the financial activities at a young age. More uage of internet on a daily basis has accustomed more people to disclose their personal information online, which further leads them to be less cautious while engaging on the web

Recently the data of increase in cyberattacks

Till June 2022, nearly about 6.74 Lakh cybersecurity incidents were reported in India whereas in 2020-21 the cybersecurity incidents were reported nearly about 14 Lakh

Due to increased reliance on the digital platforms during the pandemic, there was an exponential growth of cybersecurity incidents including both private and government sectors
As per the cyber security wing of the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), During the pandemic, the prime targets for cyberattacks were infrastructure, health, telecom and other strategic sectors
The implementation of the “Information Security Education and Awareness” programme seeks to create more information security

How can we make a difference

There are various awareness campaigns and suggestions to defend the people from cyber attacks. The people should not open the emails from unknown people and must possess a unique password. Also, there must be training sessions on phishing and online scams, locking computers, and on other topics

Cybersecurity awareness is the first step through which the employees must willfully embrace and proactively use cyber security practices for both professional and personal purposes. For this to be purely effective, they had to go beyond awareness for ensuring employees were embracing safety protocols as a part of their workplace culture
